Tanya Lamberte

New York City street art is my greatest artistic influence. Inspiration comes from everywhere and my surroundings while I take a walk or am on the train. I carry a book with me and write down any spur of the moment ideas. I designed this T-shirt line as a kind of homage to the ideas accumulated in my book.

Street art is very broad in style but I’m drawn more toward the gritty elements of it. Visually I tend to lean towards pieces that are layered and have dimension. While I like the dark and distressed characteristics of street art, I also like juxtaposing the style with feminine elements such as flowers and brocade. Being surrounded by so much brick and concrete in the city, I appreciate seeing flowers that much more.
