My favorite part of creating is the idea/brainstorming stage and the early sketches of designs, because everything is still open. I can see the potential since there are few restrictions, and there is freedom to create and to get as crazy as you want. I like seeing things take form and become something from nothing. I like hiding things for people to find and add hidden messages or something that isn’t apparent at the start. I like my art to be interactive and for it to show possibilities and potential and goodness. I would love my work to communicate something about freedom…I mean real freedom! Freedom from all kinds of oppression, “badness” (real evil), lies, insecurity, fear. Reading quotes of Martin Luther King, Jr. makes me think that he is pretty much “The Man” of the 20th century. Out of love for people, he fought without weapons and stood against real injustice. I’d like my work to have elements of this even when the creation may seem dorky or even childish. A sense of fun is important and necessary to a healthy existence.
